June 28th 2014 saw the arrival of a simply stunning Black Mercedes SL350, owner had booked the car in for Full Protection and arranged to drop the car off at 06:00am. Alex turned up with his pride and joy and first impressions were " what a stunning car ". An evaluation of the vehicle showed minor correction required prior to doing any protection and a collection time was arranged later in the day.
First of all " Safe Wash " carried out to remove all major contaminants from the vehicle prior to any works being undertaken. Once this part of the process was completed the car was taken in to the studio for the remainder of the work to be carried out. Once dried the lights in the detailing studio revealed a different story, the boot lid was by far the worst and there was correction required prior to any protection being done. Due to having an aliminium boot lid I chose a soft pad and soft compound that would slowly and safely remove swilr marks and light scratches.
3 hours 30 minutes later the boot lid was completed and looking amazing, although the actual paint finish from Mercedes left a lot to be desired, there was orange peel effect in the paint but this would require extensive work to remove.
After the boot lid I then faced even more damage on the roof and bonnet of the Mercedes, using Rupes Big Foot Duetto, a green pad and a medium compound this was soon completed. After the machine stage 1 on the exterior was completed, I then started the interior of the car. All interior work was straight forward due the age of the vehicle but the leather seats were in need of leather treatment for added protection to give a lasting look, feel and smell.
Finally I started the Protection process, firstly the car was wiped down using Gtechniq Panel Wipe to remove any grease marks from fingers and any other residue and contaminants. Then Gtechniq EXO v2 was added all over a panel at a time, then removed using plush micro fibre towels. The car had 2 coats of Gtechnic EXO v2, for added Protection and lasting durability.
Once this was all completed I gave the car a coating of sealant for added gloss finish, the car looked amazing and the owner was very impressed to say the least...
